As you already know, Mixtape Addict is a worldwide movement. This time let’s fly to Amsterdam in the Netherlands to get to know more about hip-hop artist Scandalated ! He recently dropped a new banger entitled « Who Dem ? » featuring Maikalx and Kalibwoy, check it out below just before the interview :
- Who is your all time favorite DJ ?
My all time favorite DJ is DJ Mr Wix (local hip-hop DJ), he used to rock the spot with all styles of hip-hop at the Paradijs club.
- Do you have a all time favorite mixtape that you can mention ?
« The LOX Mixtape Essentiële » no doubt ! With tracks like « Kiss Your Ass Goodbye« , « In my hood« , classic tracks for me… Shout out to the L.O.X.
- Where are you from and How did you get into hip-hop ?
I live in Amsterdam now but i was born and raised in Zaandam, a city nearby Amsterdam. The first time I was influenced by hip-hop was in the late eighties, in 1987 to be exact. By Public Enemy‘s « Rebel Without A Pause« . Then Eric B and Rakim, in 1988 with « Microphone Fiend« , I fell in love with hip-hop instantly.
- What are your plans to get bigger with your music ?
I got a lot of plans for the hip-hop industry but for now I just want my music to be heard by the people who loves and appreciate hip-hop.
- To you, how important is being an entrepreneur as an independent artist ?
I have always been an entrepreneur, always had my own view of situations in life, so it’s very important for me as an independent artist to be able to do the things that needs to be done.
- Who’s your favorite hip-hop entrepreneur ?
Dr.Dre for sure, one of the founders of the WestCoast G-funk.. He is a producer, audio engineer, rapper and a businessman. No need to say more.
- Who’s your favorite female MC ?
MC Lyte ! She is one of the pioneers of female rap. MC Lyte was one of the first female MC to release a full album « Lyte As A Rock ».
- If you had to pick two of your fav producers to work on a EP, who would you choose ?
I’m already working with on of them : Dutchflower. He is a legend in the Dutch hip-hop scene and of course Dr Dre !
- What’s your recipe to make a good project from start to finish ?
A lot of heart, dedication and good vibes. That’s the right recipe to make a good project.
- If you could collab with an artist, who would that be ?
It would be Bob Marley. Legendary artist, to me he is the biggest artist of all time.
- If you had 3 words to describe yourself as an artist what would that be?
Realness, loyalty and dedication.
- Do you have any words of advice for young artists that want to follow the same path ?
Keep on doing what you love, but with a plan. Follow your heart and stay focused !
